Association program or project: Association Organizes the Bughya Rheumatic Diseases Awareness Campaign in Abha.

Saudi Rheumatism Association

It provided more than 7,963 services

The Association organised the "Bughya" campaign in Abha to raise awareness of rheumatic diseases, in observance of World Rheumatic Diseases Day on 24 October 2021. The campaign educates rheumatology patients and their families about the risks of neglecting the disease, the need for ongoing diagnosis and adherence to their physician's guidance, and the importance of continuing treatment unless a physician advises otherwise. It also introduces patients to services provided through the Association's initiatives, programmes and projects. The Association has launched 31 initiatives through which it supports more than 1,250 rheumatology patients by continuously providing costly medicines and biologic treatments, as well as more than 160 children with rheumatic diseases. More than 4,778 people have registered with the Association, which has delivered over 7,963 services. Through the Qader Initiative, it helped create a better quality of life for more than 250 beneficiaries by performing approximately 265 joint replacement surgeries for rheumatology patients. The Association has signed cooperation agreements with several public- and private-sector health institutions to perform more than 775 procedures, and aims to complete 1,000 joint replacements through the Qader Initiative. It has also signed agreements with health institutions to provide bariatric surgery for rheumatology patients through the Obesity Program, along with physiotherapy to rehabilitate patients before and after surgery. Other leading programs include Medication Support, which has served more than 1,470 patients, and Takaful Treatment, which has benefited more than 2,444 patients. The Association has also launched psychological-support programs and guidance sessions, reaching a total of 1,722 beneficiaries. The Association has launched or participated in 83 awareness and education campaigns, including the Bughya Campaign, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, benefiting more than 5,000 people.
