The Rheumatology Unit at King Khalid University Hospital, in cooperation with the Charitable Association for Rheumatism Patients, organized its third awareness campaign under the theme “Women and Rheumatic Diseases,” under the patronage of King Saud University Rector Prof. Badran Al-Omar. The campaign aims to raise awareness of rheumatic diseases and the services the Association provides to its beneficiaries. It runs for three days, through Wednesday, October 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On the campaign's first day, 65 male and female rheumatism patients joined the Association to benefit from its services. Association Board Chairman Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Hamza Omair affirmed that the campaign seeks to inform women about the risks of rheumatic diseases and how to manage them. He explained that it targets female patients because women account for 85% of rheumatism patients, compared with 15% for men, and can develop these diseases at any age. In the same context, Association Executive Director Mr. Mohammed Al-Tufaili Al-Zahrani said the Association seeks to educate women about rheumatic diseases because women are a fundamental part of the family and account for half of society's awareness.
